TEDx and Keynote Speaker, Parent Educator, Teacher Trainer, University Instructor and Early Childhood Consultant
As Founder and Director of a Children's Center in Brooklyn, NY, (joyful years!), I saw the ways in which popular culture impacts children's development and imaginations, which led to graduate work on issues around family and media and the founding of Healthy Media Choices, which I still direct and through which I have given workshops to hundreds of parents and teachers in schools and at professional conferences for over twenty years.
From 2013-2017, I taught courses in Children and Media at Fordham and Adelphi Universities in New York.
For five years, I hosted The Healthy Media Choices Hour on Community Radio in Vermont, interviewing key pediatricians and others about child development in the US contemporary framework.
Perhaps most relevant, I am a mother of two daughters and live in a household with a 6-year-old granddaughter, an on-going learning opportunity about the pressures and assets young families have today. I am always listening, learning, and sharing the newest information and insights from well-founded sources.
